It’s
Unanimous – Switzerland is gorgeous!! After a rainy drive from France, we arrived in
Lucerne to sunny skies! What a perfect
day to explore this beautiful city located in the heart of Switzerland and
surrounded by the majestic Alps. Adam, our Delegation Manager, led us on a
brief walking tour before giving each delegate 11 Swiss Francs. Students had
the opportunity to buy lunch on their own by communicating with local
shopkeepers – many of whom only spoke German or French. On the drive to Walensee, everyone was mesmerized by the
beautiful Heidi-like scenery. How
appropriate, since our hotel is located in the quaint Swiss village of
Heidiland. Lake Walensee was just too
inviting, so we just took the plunge! Hey, long bus rides will do that. Our
delegation then boarded a boat to cruise across the lake to experience a
delicious Swiss meal at Seehus
restaurant. Parents, try not to get too jealous, when you see where your child
spent the evening for dinner.
Since it doesn’t get dark until 10:00, many students played ball outside our hotel and practiced our Delegation’s Flash Mob Dance. That’s right -- we’re performing a Flash Mob somewhere in Austria. More details to follow!! Zum Gerberstag (I think my German is correct) to Janelle, who turned 18 in Switzerland!! The bus unloading came to a stop so we all could sing Happy Birthday in both English and German. Danke, Adam for your help.Everyone agrees that this country is breathtakingly beautiful. One of our alumni students even mentioned something about defecting from the Delegation just to remain in Switzerland! Ummmm… I can understand his desire, but I said that’s what college study-abroad programs are for!
